Over the Sink and Through the Hall

Two of my resolutions this year involve a lot of memorizing. Even if I weren’t attempting to memorize John or learning Greek vocabulary, I think memorizing something helps exercise the brain, and memorizing scripture has immense value.

One thing I’ve found useful in memorizing things is having visual reminders to think about it, especially in places where I find myself waiting or doing something that doesn’t involve serious thinking. I don’t use all these places, and it would probably just leave a cluttered feeling to your house if you did, but consider finding one or two that work for you. You can post a single verse, a vocabulary list, the first letter of each word in an extended passage, or whatever works for you. Here are 10 places to consider posting memorization material:

  1. Over the Sink Use it while you brush your teeth or wash dishes
  2. Through the Hall Take a quick look as you walk from room to room
  3. On the Mirror or in the Medicine Cabinet Look at it every time you look at yourself
  4. Home on your Web Browser Think about it when you go to surf (you can use multiple tabs if you still want it to bring up twitter).
  5. In the Shower Just be sure to put it in a plastic bag
  6. By a Light Switch or Lamp Illuminate your mind when you illuminate the room
  7. By workout equipment Workout your memory and your body (and keep boredom on the run)
  8. Closet Doors Get a reminder as you get your coat
  9. Near the Computer Monitor The wall behind your desk or a card under the monitor can help you make the most of the moments of waiting for something to load
  10. On the Fridge Door Eat some scripture when you get a snack

Hopefully putting thing up can help you put them in your mind and in your heart.
