Official Guidelines for the Missionary Biography Challenge
Here are the details for the Missionary Biography Challenge I have issued for 2009.
If God wills, I will read one biography a month according to a schedule that will be out before Michael and I head to Iowa to celebrate Christmas. I will blog about each book that I read (possibly with updates as I am reading, but definitely with an overall posting towards the end of the month).
I invite you to join me in reading the books from my list, but I’m flexible (this was demonstrated by me actually putting my foot in my mouth last weekend- influenced by my cute little nephew). If you want to use this as motivation to read another missionary biography that can count too. I would encourage you to comment on my blog as you are reading (whether it is with my schedule or not)- or if you blog about it on your own blog I may link to it. Yet another option: guest blogging. If you would like to write a blog post about a book on or off my list- I would welcome guest posts. If you are interested, e-mail me (at my first name at this domain) or leave a comment with your e-mail address in the e-mail field (it will not be published, but I’ll be able to contact you). I hope you will join me reading one a month, but if that seems overwhelming, try six a year, or one each semester, or even one this year- the point is to encourage you to do something.
Finally, although I am flexible, I reserve the right to use my delete key. This series is meant to be edifying. I recognize that all the missionaries on the list are flawed human beings, and I will allow legitimate challenges (such as questioning whether their behavior or theology was right). However, if I judge any comments, links to other blogs, or guest posts to be inappropriate for any reason, I may delete them, but I’m sure that won’t be an issue since I have such wonderful readers.
